Sticking with the treatment project.

Main Achievements:
1.Number of patients covered:

In 2009 the Viva Cazuza Foundation has assisted and distributed food to 115 patients within the “sticking with the treatment project”.



2. Food Donation:

The Viva Cazuza Foundation has also donated condoms to those patients that have requested them.



3. Results:

All the 115 patients assisted stayed well nourished and healthy.



The “Sticking with the treatment project” has created a very special relationship between the patients and the Viva Cazuza Foundation. Such relationship made possible that guidance and broad support regarding health and social issues were available to all patients.



Nowadays, the Viva Cazuza Foundation also works within schools where the children of the patients study in order to reduce prejudice and discrimination.



The Viva Cazuza Foundation provides assistance regarding access to psychotherapists, lawyers and dentists as well.



Because more and more patients are now seeing doctors at the IASERJ and hospitals around the Lagoa region and are becoming more committed to take better care of their health, there is little occurrence of infections and less patients spend time being treated in hospitals.



Even though it may take a long time, the “Stick with the treatment project” has many times improved patients health and their attitude towards staying health and taking better care of themselves. In some instances, it had allowed patients to get back to work and carry on with their lives.



The “Stick with the treatment project” is provided completely free and because of a recent lack of funds, the few openings in this project have not been filled anymore.
